LAME-O

Soooo - Vera Bradley sale was a big FAIL. We got to the Coliseum and are told - it will be a 3 hour wait to even get in. Also... the checkout line is over an hour long. There was a GIGANTIC line of women all the way down the parking lot - so we decided to not even try :-( So we did a little bit of shopping at the mall. Got the new Karen Kingsbury book "Take Three" and am super excited to read it. Amy and I got some cheap/awesome sunglasses. They could come straight from a magazine.

List of books I have to recommend:

• Everything from Karen Kingsbury
• Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers (but you can't go wrong with ANY of her books)
• Nicholas Sparks
• Twilight Series. Don't frown if you haven't read them - they seriously are very good! They are not only for pre-teen girls.

Beginning of Summer

So it is the beginning of the Summer. I am just sitting here in my room (at Amy's house) and just wasting time. This feels like the beginning of last summer - but at least I have a job all lined up. Last summer I sat around for over a month with no job... very bored. I know this should make me thankful for having my job now... but I really don't enjoy it. I'm a student nurse on a Telemetry unit. Maybe it is just because I have been out of practice for so long. I am really hoping that is what my deal is. Hopefully - I will love it once I get back into the groove of 12-hour shifts and being up for the completely wrong hours of the day. 6p-630a. I know I am blessed to have this job - especially when so many people are out of work. I know a lot of friends have been struggling to get hospital jobs this summer. So I am definitely trying to work on my attitude. But I just keep praying that another position will open up. ER, Pediatrics, OB... these are all positions that I would LOVE. Hopefully something will work out! I have a feeling that good things will happen this summer (fingers crossed)

So I am heading to the Philippines in exactly 19 days for my Transcultural Nursing Trip. I am going with a group of nursing students and one of our professors. We will be offering medical help to those in villages and also doing a clinic for the orphans we will be staying with. I am pretty excited to be going HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD!!!! A 12-hour time change will be pretty intense. This will just throw us all completely out of our comfort zones. So keep us all in your prayers as our time to leave draws near. Our trip is from May 18-30th.

Some things to pray for:

• That supplies will continue to come in for our clinics
• That we won't get stopped at customs
• That we will be able to help those that we come into contact with
• That we will be changed by our experiences there
• That we will be able to keep positive attitudes (even if we don't get to shower for 3 days)
• That we will bond as a group
• And anything else that you can think of for group trips like this

So I'm about to head to the Vera Bradley outlet sale with Amy :-) Time to go look at sales with hundreds of other people (who will most likely push us around). We aren't crazy about buying stuff... just want to look and see if there is anything we like. Should be interesting.
